Dating advice: genuine connection without games

8 min read

Before the first meeting

Write the way you would speak. Pick up details from the conversation and avoid asking five questions at once. When the exchange feels easy, suggest a specific, simple meeting. Coffee, a walk or a quiet drink creates a clear setting without a long commitment.

  • Show genuine interest instead of artificial distance.
  • Make a specific suggestion with a time and idea.
  • Accept a no or hesitation without persuasion.

On the date: connection, not performance

You do not need to perform. Ask open questions, listen to the answers and share something about yourself too. A good conversation does not feel like an interview: topics can change, pauses are allowed and humour does not need to be forced.

Do not focus only on whether they like you. Also ask yourself: do I feel safe? Are my boundaries respected? Am I genuinely interested in this person? Dating is a mutual decision.

Stay clear after the date

If you enjoyed the meeting, it is fine to say so that evening or the next day. A short message is enough: “I enjoyed our evening and would like to see you again.” If you are not interested, a kind, clear reply is more respectful than days of silence.

Take warning signs seriously

Pressure, jealousy before you know each other, demeaning jokes, repeated boundary violations or contradictions about basic facts are reasons to step back. Meet in public at first, share the location with someone you trust and arrange your own journey home.
